Matthew Lawrence is here to tell what happens when boy meets girl.
The Boy Meets World actor got candid about his relationship with TLC's Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas—a romance that soared after they ended up on the same flight following an event.
"We were working. We just said hello in passing and probably nothing would've come of that, but there was this big snowstorm," Matthew recalled in a March 3 interview with Entertainment Tonight. "The only flight I could get was a connecting flight through Atlanta. She lives in Atlanta so, she was flying on that flight."
Looking back on that sky-high detail of their story, Matthew noted, "Really it was the flight, talking and then afterwards saying, 'Hey, let's keep in contact.' That's really what made it, and it almost did not happen. I mean, literally, an hour before the flight took off they were like, 'OK, we got you on this flight.'"
Following that serendipitous moment, Matthew said that he and Chilli continued to get to know another for about five or six months as friends before becoming something more. Fast forward to now and the pair, who went Instagram official in December, are in a full-on romance, of which Matthew painted a touching picture.
"My life is in a complete bloom right now," he told the outlet. "I get to spend time with an amazing woman like Chilli. I've never gotten to be able to experience that kind of relationship before, so it's quite special. She's a really, really special human being."
As for if they have met each other's families, the Mrs. Doubtfire actor confirmed they have, and that Chilli's 25-year-old son Tron, who she shares with ex Dallas Austin, is someone he connects with well.
On the topic of having his own children one day, Matthew noted, "I hope. That's the game plan. That's what we're trying to do."
Prior to dating Chilli, Matthew was married to Cheryl Burke for two years before the Dancing With the Stars alum filed for divorce in February 2022. Their divorce was finalized in September of that year.
Following their initial split, Cheryl has been open about navigating a new chapter. On Dec. 28, she penned a message in honor of her emotions leading up to the then-upcoming New Year.
"When you see me crying at 11:59pm on NYE don't think it's because I'm sad. It's because i fking MADE IT through the year that did everything it could to try and break me," she wrote in a TikTok. "And there were a lot of moments I thought it would but here I AM. Ready to move forward to no longer be definition by the past."
